Incase blogs are not for you
As a Graphic Illustrator and Graphic Designer of 7 years, I have had the privilege of testing many drawing tablets and display tablets. I have stuck to mostly Wacom since it is industry standard in 2D Animation which was my starting point. I have used many models including the intuos and cintiq lines.
I had yet to try any other brand of display tablet due to unsolicited skepticism. But I was thrown into a predicament where I needed to animate and did not have my big fancy Wacom. A budget friendly option was the only choice. Alas I stumbled upon the Huion Kamvas 12.
Here we will be reviewing pros, cons, specs, and whether or not it is a worthy investment.
Let me start off fast for those of you who would rather just know off the bat. I WISH these tablets were advertised more to me when I was younger so I wouldn't have spent so long saving to buy something for the price of an arm and a leg ( a wacom display tablet). The Huion Kamvas 12 is an AMAZING pen display for beginners and seasoned digital artist alike. It gets the job done extremely effectively with no issues.
Pros:
budget friendly
small and portable
pen tilt
1 year warranty
easy to install drivers
Cons:
no stand (a stand option available for an additional $30)
pen and tablet are very light
only mirrored not its stand alone monitor
In the box you get, in addition to the tablet, a pen holder (with 10 replaceable nibs), 3- in 1 wire, usb extension cord, and manual. The tablet itself has Full lamination screen, anti-glare glass of 11.6 inches and is compatible with both macOS and Windows. I have a windows computer and this was by far the EASIEST set up ever. You look up the drivers which are here if you need them they are here: at this link https://www.huion.com/index.php?m=content&c=index&a=lists&catid=16&myform=1&down_title=Kamvas%2012
Download the appropriate one based on your system, plug in the tablet, turn it on, and it's ready to go. An additional feature is the ability to use it while it is off and looking at the screen.
This tablet is a perfect option for people who are students or beginners of some sort. It has a solid working area, easy software, and a small to nonexistent learning curve.
